We are thrilled to be sponsoring the Oarsome crew as they embark on the ultimate adventure: rowing across the Atlantic!
Departing from La Gomera in the Canary Islands, they will take on a gruelling 3,000-mile journey to Antigua.
This inspiring team includes Dec Lynn, Graham Doyle, Jessica Hunter, and Gian-Luc Angiolini, each bringing unique strengths and a shared mission. Their goal? Not just to cross the ocean, but to highlight the opportunities for training and education within the British Army, the UK’s largest provider of apprenticeships.
As Dec Lynn, the team's skipper, shared: "Many people don’t realise that the Army offers incredible training and education across so many levels. This row is about showcasing what’s possible when people come together with a common purpose. We couldn’t have got this far without the wider team around us."
For Graham Doyle, it’s the mental endurance that poses the real challenge: "With the ‘two hours on, two hours off’ rowing, it’s more a mental battle than a physical one, but we’re prepared and focused on raising funds for charity. Missing our families will be the hardest part but we’ll be able to phone home."
The team has been training tirelessly, balancing work and family commitments with intense preparation. They’ve already spent long hours together bonding, learning to operate satellite phones, and meticulously packing supplies.
We’re honoured to support such a determined team. Their journey exemplifies resilience, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence—values we deeply admire.
We wish the Oarsome crew fair winds and the adventure of a lifetime!
We’ll be cheering for you every mile of the way!
