CDS Defence Support have worked with Rolling Rogues to create interactive training intervention for the Army.
We’ve all been there, sitting at our desks on a Friday afternoon, trying to get through the latest raft of e-learning, just waiting for the moment we can ‘click next’. But what if there was a better way? A more engaging, innovative way of learning through technology?
The CDS Defence Support training division spent last weekend at Bulford Army camp in Salisbury, filming a two-stage interactive training intervention for the ‘Unacceptable Behaviours’ division of the British Army. Using a team of actors, CDS DS worked with film and production company Rolling Rogues to film footage for an interactive ‘choose your own story’ training intervention aimed at highlighting the impacts of unconscious bias on decision making.
Charlotte Warren, who is leading this project, explains CDS DS’ approach to e-learning.
“At CDS DS, we actively avoid creating training which asks a user to ‘click next’. We constantly challenge ourselves, asking ‘is there a better way of doing this?’. And 99% of the time there is. With the technology that we have at our fingertips today, it makes sense to meld the two together, designing interventions that challenge the user, that are engaging, and which ultimately result in a deeper level of subject understanding”
Alongside the Unacceptable Behaviours department, the CDS DS training division are currently working with a number of other areas of the British Army to create high level behavioural change training, including the Defence Cultural Specialist Unit and the Information Support team.
