  • Launched as part of Cyber Awareness Month (October 2022) the UK Army Cadet Force are rolling out nationwide a Cyber Safety Training video with the aim of improving Army Cadets Cyber Security and Data Protection Practices.
  • Using the latest animation techniques to bring the training video to life, cadets are challenged to a simulated cyber security training exercise.
  • The short training video is narrated by Armed Forces personnel and Cadet Ambassadors. Using a combination of 2D & 3D animation, it is designed to be inclusive and accessible to the wide teenage age-range, backgrounds, interests, and sensibilities within the cadet movement.

In partnership with the Army Cadet Force and British Army, CDS Defence & Security (a world-class defence & security consultancy) is privileged to have produced the first, animated Cyber Safety training video for the UK Army Cadet Force.

Launched to coincide with International Cyber Awareness Month (October 2022) the video is to be made accessible throughout the UK to all Army Cadet Force detachments (age 12-18) with the aim of educating, building awareness and helping to keep safe the next generation of cadets as they develop their knowledge and resilience within the cyber environment.

Angus Cameron MBE, Senior Training Consultant & Portfolio Manager CDS Defence & Security, said:

“We are immensely proud to be involved in the creation of this cyber safety video for the UK’s Army Cadet Force at a time where the threat of Cyber crime continues to grow in scale and complexity. Understanding the fundamentals of good online safety and data protection practices will help see our young cadets develop informed choices about how they interact with the cyber world, hopefully putting the skills they have learnt into practice to defend themselves and others from cyber threats. Well done to the ACF for their forward thinking approach to embedding cyber safety into the learning and development pathway of modern day cadets.”

The short, training video is designed to engage a youth audience and uses 2D and 3D animation with descriptive narration by Armed Forces personnel and Cadet Ambassadors. Cadets are guided through a simulated cyber security training exercise that follows a ‘search and discover’ concept, revealing how personal information displayed online creates a digital footprint that can compromise a person’s privacy and safety.

Brigadier Neville Holmes MBE Deputy Commander Army Cadet Force, who features in the video said:

“The Army Cadets provides a challenging, stimulating and enjoyable experience for over 65,000 young people across the UK so helping to set them up for lifelong success within a safe and secure environment is our top priority. We also aim to provide the awareness and skills to enable our cadets and adult volunteers to protect themselves and this excellent video developed in partnership with the team at CDS Defence & Security and our National Cadet Ambassador, Jordan Wylie, highlighting online risks with some simple tools is a superb example of that. I commend it to you all.”

Martin Nash, Head of Cyber Security & Information Assurance, said:

“There’s nothing more powerful than training and awareness when it comes to safeguarding yourself, your family, and your friends from cyber threats. This innovative, engaging and wholly realistic short video produced by our amazing training team here at CDS Defence & Security is a great example of how we can all do this. What a superb initiative by the Army Cadets!”
